Task 5: Analysis of Self Generated Video And Audio

Music Video
In my Multimedia Campaign I intend to create a music video. As part of an earlier assignment. I came together in a group of three other people to create a music video to Shakira and BeyoncĂ©'s Beautiful Liar. Our initial idea for the music video was to recreate scenes of the video but to also tell a story of two women being hurt by the same man (the beautiful liar). We wanted to include, lip synchronising, choreographed performances and a story at the same time. A lot of planning went into creating this piece. We conducted research by studying the original music video and seeing how we can make ours more original but still maintaining the flair of the original video. Our first task was to cast a male lead for the video. Following by preparing choreography for the dancing scene. Then we created a story board which featured all aspects of the video including the story and the dance routine. The story line involved both women having a relationship with the same man, and then catching him with another woman, and giving him his just deserts and walking off into the sunset. For my final major project I am remaking Michael Jackson's Black or White. A lot of creativity, special effects and planning went into creating this video, but I intend to make mine as authentic as possible. By uniting all races to come together for the project. For this project the new skills I will be able to develop and implement include the following. Using a larger cast for the music video. My original idea, only involved 5 People in the main story line. Using a flash mob will mean that I will have to work with a bigger cast. Other wise, the videos are practically the same, so I will be able to develop the skills that I have learnt working with a bigger cast.

FMP: PRIMARY RESEARCH

The most effective methods which I used to gather information from my potential target audience includes, questionnaires and camera interviews for a small analysis. My findings were inconclusive. This means that I have allocated my potential target audience.
My multimedia campaign is on racism which is a general topic. I am looking on trying to unite the community of all ages, races and genders. Most of the people I interviewed were aware of what a multimedia campaign was and what they expect to see from it, and what makes a good multimedia advertising campaign. They are also aware of the platforms by which, a product, service or even a movement can be advertised.
AGE
The age group for my audiences ranges from 13+ the average range of the ages of the people I interviewed was 13yrs, and due to the content and the appeal of my campaign the younger generation, shall be keen on some aspects of it. However the older generation shall be more keen on the informative side of the campaign which is what shall be advertised on the radio show.

GENDER
My campaign appeals to both genders. Racism doesn't apply to gender but rather race. But by bringing all sorts of people together I intend to reach out to both genders. My unique selling point is the use of Michael Jackson to attract an audience, my questionnaire allowed me to determine the fact that he appeals to both genders but from different generations.

Sexual Orientation
The question of sexuality has not come into play. My campaign doesn't distinguish or discriminate against any sexuality. There for it is appealing to all sexual orientations.

Educational Background
Because the campaign appeals to a wide array of age groups the educational back ground also varies. However to comprehend this campaign one would have had to have completed their primary level education.

Lifestyle
The campaign appeals to all kinds of lifestyles.

Occupation
Because campaign also reaches out to school children, having an occupation isn't mandatory for any of the members of the audience. Therefore it is not imperative for members of the audience to have jobs.

Media Product Preferences
In this campaign, I am using three platforms in order to display my campaign. The radio interview shall appeal to people who have a keen interest in listening to radio shows to receive information, and listening to new songs. The flash mob music video shall appeal to people who are keen uses of social networks and mobile and computer applications. Such as Instagram, Vine, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. The poster will appeal to both pictorial social network users.

Documentary Script

Social Action and Community Media

Voice Over Script
Beginning:
Racial oppression, a problem that has affected human beings since the dawn of time; Wherever you go, someone somewhere has either been on the receiving end of or delivered a racially offensive statement to their fellow man. It is noted that Man doesn’t change we evolve, we adapt and we endure, either for better or for worse. People have taken to belittling their brethren not due to the colour of their skin as it was in the past but rather due to the shade of their skin, which they still have no control over. Most common among the black folk, society has been divided into and the community is tearing itself down.

Shadism is a rising problem and the community has a voice. All some people need is a platform on which to be heard. Where some take pride in being part of the problem, others are willing to rise up and be part of the solution.

Middle:
Bleaching Pills, Bleaching tablets and all sorts of other creams and all sorts of other products have been enabled for people to change them selves for what they believe is to be the better, but what about self acceptance and self preservation. People are so focused on having the world loving them for who they want to be, instead of loving themselves for who they are.

End:
We live in a fast pace and ever changing society where progress is mandatory. But if we keep bringing each other down then how will we move forward. I implore to you out there, if you are listening, accept your self for who you are, appreciate your beauty on the inside and out. Don't dwell in the past and look to the future let us come together to make this world a better place for the next generation.

Interview Techniques

This is a practice interview that I conducted with Hari as a practice run of what is to come while interviewing for my documentary.

WHAT WENT WELL
I feel that the interview went well, even though it was short notice and non of the questions will in fact be asked in the documentary.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO IMPROVE
The positioning of the camera
I don't want to be seen through out the entire interview or heard, only the interviewee and the responses to the questions. After each question is answered the camera is to fade out and open up to the new question being answered, also in case the interviewee reacts in a certain way.

BRAINSTORM STRUCTURE FOR DOCUMENTARY

The entire duration of the documentary is 10-15 minutes. I intend to break down the beginning middle and end of the documentary in order to fit this criteria. The beginning of the documentary will act as an introduction in to the topic of SHADISM. How it started with racism between the blacks and the whites in terms of slavery and how it progressed into segregation in the community between the black race and how it has effected people.
The middle will serve to voice the opinions of people who have seen the effect of the topic on there people and what they have done or intend to do to ensure the people around them refrain from such a way of thinking. Followed by more archive footage of pictures of things that this kind of segregation has led to, including in the entertainment industry and how famous people have a hold on their audience and there decisions strongly affect the community. Finally, it will be the final two interviews. These interviewees will be giving there experiences first hand with the issue and how it has greatly affected there way of thinking and their self esteem.
The end will act as a sum up of the documentary. It will consist of archive footage and images showing the audience what SHADISM has made of this generation. Clips and videos of the stereotypes in action. Followed by roaming footage of different areas in London accompanied by my voice over in the background summing up the documentary, urging the masses to cease and desist in this ignorant behaviour. Finally, I will make my first an only appearance in the documentary, over looking my city as the camera fades to black.

Onome, Alex and Nadine
These three people are college students, racial profiling will put them in the Light skinned category. They will be speaking on the same things as the activists mentioned above.
The objective of this series of interviews is to see exactly how different the two categories are in terms of opinion as they differ  in skin colour.
Vox Pops interviews
Footage from my vox pops interviews will be shown to voice more opinions.
Followed by a one minute intersession of more images of people who have taken to skin lightening in order to fit the criteria, accompanied by an instrumental of cross roads by bone thugs and harmony, with a voice over, discussing what the images are about and how shadism has left people defacing Gods work because they don't fit the bill of what the media has seemed to define as beauty.

FINAL MAJOR PROJECT: INITIAL IDEAS REPORT

Multimedia Advertising Campaign
The Campaign I am advertising is an Anti Racism Foundation. It is carrying out a charity event represented by myself called the 1 PEOPLE PROJECT. This project is targeted towards the younger generation as well as the older generation. It will incorporate music, dance and interactive campaigning such as a campaign poster.

The music Video
Michael Jackson is an artist that appeals to all the generations. His music is cherished by all races he truly was an inspiration to many. I intend to remake a video to his number one smash hit off his eighth album Dangerous.
This will not be easy to do as he use of various races and different historical references was used in abundance through out the video and the morphing of peoples faces but I will have a more casual approach to the song, heavily involving my community. I will use dancers which will perform a choreographed routine in the video, I will also use a flash mob wearing campaign coloured T Shirts to support the Movement. Various people will be lip singing certain parts of the song as well.

The Radio Show
To introduce the radio show I will remake an acoustic version of Black or white which shall be recorded and played live in the recording studio, then an interview will be conducted by someone else interviewing me on their radio show of which the channel is a sponsor and supporter of the project. Isabella Francis will be conducting the interview.

Campaign Poster
The 1 PEOPLE PROJECT OFFICIAL POSTER shall be designed by me, using the colours black white and red. Black and White Representing the shades of the community and red representing blood which is a basic human element which everyone shares.
